LIH Olivia’s Place Launches “Mind Up” Learning Group for Young Kids

I’ve always thought that mindfulness is a “practice” and a “lifestyle” that enables us to relieve daily anxieties and stresses. Our team has talked about mindfulness a couple of times, like how parents can use it to cope with the demands of parenting or for kids to stay calm and curious.
Our friends from LIH Olivia’s Place have just launched a new program for kids aged 4 to 6. The Mind Up Group is a mindfulness-based social-emotional learning group adapted from the MindUP curriculum developed by the Hawn Foundation.
“[The learning group] aims to improve children’s attention, behavior and emotional regulation, and ability to empathize and be pro-social. The program brings positive changes to a child’s academic skills and relationship with self and others around them. It also aims to create resilience and happiness,” Olivia’s Place explained further.
The program is developed to help kids who have difficulties staying focused, following classroom rules or controlling emotions; or those easily distracted by friends and things around; or even those who don’t cooperate that much with other kids or adults.
Mind Up groups will be comprised of 6-10 kids, and each of them will do activities that help grow the skills they learn at home and in school. These activities involve group play that promotes knowledge sharing and hands-on practices.
The program begins March 24 and will continue every Saturday at 9-10am for eight weeks (first course for RMB 4,000) or 16 weeks (second course for RMB 7,200) at LIH Olivia’s Place. The courses will be delivered by in-house psychologist Xiang Yi, who is trained to deliver mindfulness programs.
For more information about the courses, contact Michelle Wang at 135 2234 1845 or mengshen.wang@lih-oliviasplace.com.
