On these cold days, we find ourselves wanting hot food, but might end up eating unhealthily. On top of that, at this time of year we revel in a lot of special feasts and get-togethers. For the health-conscious who want to fill up without fattening up, or celebrate without becoming overweight, Tribe Organic have launched their autumn/winter menu, inspired by fall colors and feelings of companionship and warmth. I’ve tried their new offerings, and these are the ones which are sure to delight kids and adults alike.
Hot Stuff Pumpkin
Who says pumpkins are only for Halloween? I’ve always known that pumpkins are a good source of vitamin A, but I don’t eat them much because I find the taste bland. But Tribe have put a spin on the Halloween pumpkin and, instead of carving a face, they’ve roasted it and made it a savory powerhouse complete with roasted cauliflower, couscous, peas, corn, and Hunan ham. The fun thing is that once you’ve finished all the good stuff inside, you can dig into the yummy pumpkin bowl.
Pizza Bonanza
Breakfast pizza? Vegan pizza? Or savory pizza? Tribe has all these brand new offerings, though the first one, aka “Anytime Anywhere Asparagus Pizza”, caught my attention because it’s a guilt-free morning serving perfect for gymgoers. Eggplants can be a pizza topping, too, and their “Ego-Boosting Eggplant Pizza” is sure to do just that, when you consider its purported cancer-fighting properties. The last of the set, “This Is The Life Lamb Meatball Pizza,” is a fiesta for lamb lovers with its combination of mozzarella, feta, and almond flour.
Desserts
Holiday meals wouldn’t be complete without desserts. Tribe’s autumn/winter menu has four, and all of them go perfectly with celebrations. Okay, I’m a little bit biased here because I’ve got a sweet tooth, but I really liked “That Unforgettable First Date Cake”, a soft rich cake topped with coconut ice cream.
