Summer reminds us of the breezy tropical beaches and all of the colorful fiestas under the blazing sun. And the fun won’t be complete without those freshly grilled eats and cool fruits — and these are something that Tribe captures perfectly on their brightest summer menu yet!
Their newest offerings are inspired by “The Lightness of Summer”, or foods that will make you glow in and out! And for the health buffs out there, you can munch on these foods without the added sugar, fat, and guilt! Here are the top five eats to try out on Tribe’s new summer menu.
Thai by Nature Voodle Salad
Ingredients: Shredded papaya, yellow zucchini, and green zucchini; cherry tomatoes; mint; coriander; pickled onion; Chinese toon sprouts; peanuts; Thai dressing
Let’s start with this Thai voodle salad, or light noodles made of veggies. It is reminiscent of atchara or papaya salad in Filipino cuisine, but this voodle salad has strands that look like spaghetti. Since some of its ingredients are pickled, this salad tastes quite sour, but just enough to start a summer feast.
Hooray for The Vacay Chicken Couscous Bowl
Ingredients: Couscous, pickled chili, kale, avocado, mango, mango salsa, and grilled chicken thigh
It’s possibly the healthiest grain bowl in town. And the fruity tang of mango, mixed with chilis and grilled chicken make this feel like a Southeast Asian holiday island paradise in your mouth.
Loved by The Masses Seafood Paella
Ingredients: Prawns and shrimps, cod, mussels, mixed grains, green beans, onion, white wine, parsley, tomato sauce, chicken soup
While the previous dish is a winner on its own, this Barcelona-inspired paella is an absolute knockout due to its flavors. I actually loved how they used mixed grains instead of rice, so there’s no guilt if you eat more than one portion. And as a seafood-loving islander who loves going to town fiestas in the Philippines, I think Tribe’s version of paella is festive enough to join the ranks of dishes to share with the family or friends.
Note: This dish is not available in the Tribe Sanlitun and Shanghai branches.
BBQ Dreaming Pineapple & Shrimp Skewers
Ingredients: Shrimps, pineapple, paprika, chili powder
Here’s another winner! This triple “S” – spicy shrimp skewer is topped with a pineapple chunk – which becomes even better with beer. It’s so delightful that you may need to order more, since a set has three skewers.
Life is Beachy Coconut Yogurt Smoothie Bowl
Ingredients: Coconut Yogurt, blueberries, blue-green algae, pineapple, mango, coconut
Things in life sometimes become a b*tch, right? But let go of the worries and the stresses with this coconut yogurt smoothie, whose taste will relax you as if you’re getting a tan on the beach. The mixture of coconut and blueberries are just right and not so sweet,
Honorable mentions
Sun’s Out Guns Out Grilled Nectarine Salad
Ingredients: Nectarine, pecans, mozzarella, spinach, pickled red onion, baby carrot, red pepper, corn on the cob, Boston lettuce, French dressing
Tribe has done the BBQ-ing on this menu, including nectarines! Their grilled taste suits the seasoned beef well.
My Mango Addiction Coconut Yogurt Smoothie Bowl
Ingredients: Coconut yogurt, mango, banana, coconut milk, maple syrup, homemade muesli
While all dishes on Tribe’s summer menu are tastefully colorful, this coconut yogurt smoothie decorated with mangos is the most Instagrammable. It’s just like holding the beach in your hands, and when it gets into your mouth, you’ll be transported to a tropical siesta!
Tribe’s summer 2019 menu is made using simple and healthy cooking methods but they are delicious and full of nutrition. Try out their newest offerings at their Solana, Sanlitun, and Wangfujing branches in Beijing. See the addresses here.
