Deskercises That Will Keep You Fit in the Office

We spend a third of our weekdays in the office, usually busy and stressed out. Actually, there are “deskercises” or simple workouts that you can do in the office. Allot time for these activities, say in the morning or at lunch, or perhaps when everything is too much, because after all — it’s for you and your overall health!

Face Time
Got a message to your colleague who’s in another room? Scrap WeChat and just go to your colleague! Put in some face time and not FaceTime to your messages while removing the strain in your body because of long sitting. Just don’t get tempted to babble too long or munch on sweets!

Core Swivel
Okay, done with that face time and now you’re going back to your swivel chair. Add more fun to your chair-manship and use that swivel chair to do oblique ab twirls. Place your feet firm on the floor, sit upright and hold the edge of your desk firmly. Then now, use your abs to turn the chair from side to side.

Crunch Time
Even if the deadlines are coming near, you can still tone your core muscles in the office! Put both of your elbows on your thighs, then try to curl in the chest toward the legs while resisting the movement with the arms. Hold this abdominal crunch for 10 seconds, then release, and finally repeat.

Hammy Lunch Break
While warming your packed lunch in the oven of your office pantry, warm your legs up by doing a standing leg curl. While standing, gently kicking your one leg back and aiming for the heel to reach the top of your thigh. Once done, lower your foot then do the same for the other leg.

Curly Bag
Got that tote bag full of marketing stuff that you need for a client meeting? Use it as weight and do some bicep curls! Put more items, like water bottles, inside to add weight.

Shoulder Shrug
Probably you’ll disagree with some of the topics in a meeting, or maybe your pitch got struck down. Use that disappointment for your shoulder shrugs instead, which work out your high back muscles. Raise your shoulders toward the ears, then hold it for 5 seconds, then relax.
